Please come and enjoy our final event together as we celebrate RakSa in an evening of music, mantra and community.

Kirtan is the uplifting, meditative, and sacred expression of devotion and prayer through song. Powerful Sanskrit mantras are set to music, sung by a leader and repeated back by the group. This communal practice of call and response raises the collective group energy, opens the heart, quiets the mind, and paves the way for the ecstatic bliss of devotion to be realized!

Come sing and shine!

Noah Christensen’s exposure to Kirtan began in a yoga class. Enamored by the beautiful tapestry of meditation, music, and devotion, he began exploring the ocean of devotion known as Kirtan. Embracing traditional instrumentation and blending modern vocal styling, he is honored to be sharing Kirtan with the Raksa community!

MARCH 24th The Intended Self: living with awareness

APRIL 21st Opening to Change: living with agility

MAY 19th Nature’s Resilience: living with energy

We are powerful beings evolved over 3.5 billion years that are innately intelligent, deeply connected with our environment and capable of self-healing and vast awareness. In this 3-workshop series, you are offered an opportunity to embark on a reflective journey with your whole being to allow the amazing natural potential you already have inside to surface. All three workshops can be taken individually.

Drawing upon Feldenkrais® and Shamanistic practices of embodied learning through movement, we will explore the conflict between the forces of socialization and the forces of nature as they shape our very experience of life itself. Through this process we’ll begin to tap into our innate ability to organize and heal “organically”, elegantly and in our entirety, with spontaneous coordinated harmony and pleasurable, resilient wellness.

About the Instructor:

Lucien Demaris is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, a California Licensed Acupuncturist with a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine, and a Nationally Certified Bodyworker with a private practice at RAKSA. He has been a life-long student of ancient healing and shamanistic practices of South America, and an explorer of human potential through somatic studies and embodiment practices for 20 years.

This is a great opportunity for you to create a healing & relaxing time in your week. We are happy to have you as our guest and for you to meet the amazing teachers who offer their talents here at RakSa.

Yoga is the union of mind and body, linked with breath and movement; energy in flow. This introductory workshop is designed for all students and will cover the basic poses (asanas), the principles of movement and posture with some yoga philosophy and simple relaxation techniques.

About the Yoga Instructor:
Susy Vishmid has an extensive background in movement. At age 4 she began her training at the Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica and by age 16 Susy was already a company member of the Pennsylvania Ballet. In 2008 Susy completed over 500 hours of training through the Yoga Works professional program to become a certified yoga instructor. Her creative passion for movement fueled the inception for her blog soyouthinkyoucanyoga.com. Susy empowers students teaching them to move with purpose to facilitate physical, mental, and spiritual wholeness.

Qi gong 2:15 -4:15pm
Qi gong combines breath with slow graceful movements for a rejuvenating practice that promotes circulate of “Qi,” or life energy. This practice calms the spirit, focuses the mind and strengthens the immune system.

Iyengar Yoga, devised by B.K.S. Iyengar and refined over his lifetime is a system of hatha yoga postures (asana) and breathing (pranayama) for people of all ages, abilities, and walks of life. The Iyengar system focuses on classic postures with a deep awareness of correct alignment and precise actions that increase flexibility and strengthen weak areas with systemic sequences that awaken and align the whole Body, Mind and Spirit. This therapeutic method is appropriate for anyone – regardless of age, degree of health or limitations. In addition Iyengar yoga increases your ability to focus, observe, be present and relax.
