Come on a journey to discover the ancient wisdom of oriental medicine! We’ll explore the early history and evolution over the past thousand years, examine fundamental theories and concepts such as Chi, Yin and Yang, and discuss treatment expectations and benefits. We will also help you to conquer your fear of needles by giving a guided meditation and mini acupuncture treatment to help relieve stress.

About the instructors:
Joshua Jones began his journey in medicine during his undergraduate studies at the University of California San Diego. Majoring in Physiology and Neuroscience, he gained a deep understanding of the human body and a passion for discovering it’s mysteries. He began his studies at Emperor’s College in 2005, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s in Traditional Medicine. He believes in approaching the human body holistically, focusing on treating the person, and not the disease or symptom. His approach to therapy is that less is more.
Born in Chicago, massage therapist and licensed acupuncturist, Fernando Escobar, arrived in Los Angeles twelve years ago searching for a healing method other than allopathic medicine. When he discovered Oriental Medicine to be very effective in promoting healing, well-being, and prevention, he studied at the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing in Los Angeles for massage modalities, and graduated from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica for Oriental Medicine. Fernando encourages meditation to promote intuition, relaxation and greater healing.
